Background and Identification
Casio Computer Co., Ltd. is a Japanese consumer electronics and commercial electronics manufacturing company headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. Casio produces calculators, mobile phones, digital cameras, electronic musical instruments, and analog and digital watches. In 1957, Casio introduced the world’s first entirely electric compact calculator. Casio was also an early digital camera innovator and developed numerous affordable home electronic keyboards for musicians along with introducing the world’s first mass-produced digital watches.
NEC Mobile Communications was a mobile phone manufacturer established in May 2010. The company started as a joint venture among NEC, Casio, and Hitachi, where NEC owned 70.74%, Casio owned 20%, and Hitachi owned 9.26%. NEC Mobile Communications was formed as a result of a merger between the mobile handset division of NEC and the former joint venture between Casio and Hitachi, Casio Hitachi Mobile Communications, which was established in April 2004.
Casio’s mobile phones include the G’zOne Type-L, G’zOne Commando, and G’zOne CA-201L. The G’zOne is a series of water, shock, and dust resistant telephones manufactured by Casio. The series includes flip phones, mobile phones with keyboards, and phones with Android operating systems. Casio’s flip phones offer essentially the same feature set with the specifications (camera resolution, ringtone count, etc.) gradually improving with each model. Casio’s flip phone line includes the following models: Type V, Type S, Boulder, Rock, Ravine, and Ravine 2. Casio only released one mobile phone with a keyboard, which was called the Brigade. Casio’s mobile phones with Android operating systems include the Commando, Type L, and 201L.
