Background and Identification
The Critikon Oxyshuttle 2 is a pulse oximeter made by GE Healthcare under the Critikon brand name. Pulse oximeters are non-invasive devices used to monitor a patient’s arterial blood oxygen saturation. The Oxyshuttle 2 model uses light absorption to measure the patient’s percent oxygen saturation.
The Oxyshuttle 2 pulse oximeter functions as a stand-alone, real-time device. This model can be powered using an internal battery or from an AC power source with an external power converter. Critikon advertises that this pulse oximeter can run up to 12 hours on one battery charge. The Oxyshuttle 2 includes a range of reusable and semi-disposable sensors.
The Oxyshuttle 2 pulse oximeter automatically conducts a series of tests when it is turned on. During operation, the device uses diagnostic checks to monitor the system’s performance. If the model detects an error during the diagnostic checks, the system produces an audible warning and displays information to help correct the issue.
The Oxyshuttle 2 pulse oximeter includes the name “OXYSHUTTLE 2” printed in capital letters on the front of the device. The name “Critikon” is printed in blue capital letters inside of a blue rectangle in the upper right-hand corner of the device’s front face. This model includes several buttons and a digital display.
