Background and Identification

The Dell Latitude 3300 is a 13-inch laptop released in 2019. It was marketed for students and general users. It has a plain black and dark gray case with rounded edges and a circular Dell logo on the back of the display. Speaking of which, the display comes in two resolution configurations: a 1366x768 pixel option and a 1920x1080 touchscreen version.

Internally, the laptop runs on an Intel processor with different versions ranging from a low-power Intel Celeron to an 8th-generation Core i5. Regardless of the configuration, the laptop has one slot for memory and can use up to a maximum of 16 GB. You can access this memory slot by removing the bottom cover as shown in an iFixit guide or in the Latitude 3300 service manual. The cover is relatively easy to take off as it is only secured it place by ten Phillips screws and a few clasps along the edge that can be popped up with a spudger. Once you have the bottom off you also have access to other important components like the battery and SSD. The SSD specifically fits into an M.2 slot on the motherboard and screws in place on a bracket nearby. Although Dell only mentions in their specifications that the bracket can accommodate an M.2 SSD with a form factor of 2230 (30 mm in length) or 2242 (42 mm in length), it sure seems like you could unscrew the bracket and move it to a second pair of holes farther away to accommodate a longer 2280 M.2 card (80 mm in length). No definitive source online has proof for or against this upgrade option.

You can identify this laptop by looking on the bottom cover for a sticker containing the model number “Latitude 3300.” If the sticker does not have a model number it will have a service code or service tag. You can enter either of these numbers on the Dell support website to find details on your exact product.
