Background and Identification
Electrolux AB (commonly called Electrolux) is a Swedish home appliance manufacturer. Electrolux is consistently ranked as the world’s second top-selling appliance maker after Whirlpool. Electrolux primarily sells major appliances and vacuum cleaners designed for consumer use, though the company also makes appliances for professional use.
Electrolux began manufacturing vacuum cleaners in 1910. In 1919, the Lux vacuum was the first Electrolux product ever sold. In 2001, the Electrolux Trilobite was released as the company’s first robotic vacuum cleaner. According to Great Vacs, is it not uncommon to see decades-old Electrolux vacuum cleaners still running perfectly. Until around 2000, Electrolux vacuums featured a torpedo-shaped canister that could attach to a suction hose (many of these canisters included wheels). After 2000, Electrolux vacuums became more rounded and the company eventually began manufacturing upright vacuum cleaners.
In North America, vacuum cleaner manufacturer Aerus LLC was used by Electrolux to sell Swedish Electrolux products. In 2000, Aerus transferred their Electrolux trademark rights back to the Electrolux group and stopped using the Electrolux name and branding in 2004. Electrolux-made vacuums also used the Eureka brand name to sell Electrolux branded vacuums after 2000.
Most Electrolux vacuum cleaners include the name “Electrolux” printed in capital letters on the vacuum’s canister. Because many Electrolux vacuums were sold under various names and brands, depending on the region, Electrolux vacuums may include additional branding.
