Background and Identification

The Fluke Daeg is a pulse oximeter tester made by Fluke Biomedical. Pulse oximeters are non-invasive devices used to monitor a patient’s oxygen saturation. Fluke Biomedical produces a range of medical equipment testing tools.

Many problems with pulse oximeters are due to partial or complete failure of the oximeter’s sensors. Sensors include the photosensor, light-transmitting elements (LEDs), the cable, or the connector. The Daeg model includes an LED tester and a probe signal tester. The pulse oximeter sensor simulates a specified oxygen saturation level with a given signal strength (pulse amplitude) and heart rate. The tester can simulate heart rates between 30 and 300 beats per minute. It can perform saturated oxygen level tests and indicate the quality of red LEDs and IR lights using a Probe Test Adapter (PTA-1) and saturated oxygen probe adapters.

This device includes several factory-installed, downloadable, and user-programmable R-curves, templates, and patient conditions. The Fluke Daeg pulse oximeter tester is powered either by a 9-Volt DC 400 mA power supply or by four AA alkaline batteries.

The Fluke Daeg pulse oximeter tester includes a mainly yellow front face with blue buttons and a graphical LCD screen with backlighting. The words “SpO2 Analyzer” are printed in black font in the upper left-hand corner of the tester’s front face. The tester’s body is mainly cream-colored or beige.
