Background and Identification

The Pavilion 15-aw is a series of 15-inch laptops from HP. As part of HP’s larger Pavilion brand, these laptops are generally mid-range and aimed at the general consumer market, unlike the high-end “HP Envy” line or the low-end “HP Stream” line. All the laptops in this category have a product name using the form “Pavilion 15-awXXX…” where the extra Xs at the end represent other letters and numbers that identify each unique model. The Wikipedia page for HP Pavilion shows that the final one or two letters at the end of each model name generally represent some specific information about the product, including “wm” for a model sold at Walmart, “dx” for a laptop sold at Best But, and “od” for a version sold at Office Depot.

To find exact information for your laptop, look on the bottom or inside the battery compartment (if the battery is removable) for a sticker containing the model number. You can see some pictures of the location of this sticker in an HP support article on the topic. If you end up needing service from HP, this sticker also contains the serial number for the laptop.

Most laptops in the Pavilion 15-aw series have an AMD processor inside paired with a discrete AMD Radeon graphics card. You can find more specific technical specifications for any model by looking on the HP support website under the “product information” subsection of each laptop support page.
