Background and Identification

The KCI V.A.C. Ulta is a negative pressure wound therapy system made by Kinetic Concepts, Inc. (KCI). KCI is a global corporation that produces medical technology designed for wound healing. KCI produced the world’s first product designed specifically for negative pressure wound therapy. KCI, LifeCell, and Systagenix are all operated under Acelity, a global medical technology brand.

The KCI V.A.C. product line includes negative pressure wound therapy products. The KCI V.A.C. Ulta is compatible with all V.A.C Therapy Dressings and INFO V.A.C. Canisters. The V.A.C. Ulta features an enhanced graphic user interface and SENSAT.R.A.C. Technology for pressure monitoring and adjustment around the wound site. The SENSAT.R.A.C. system adjusts pump output, compensating for wound distance, wound position, exudates characteristics, and patient movement. A Seal Check feature helps identify leaks in the system. The V.A.C. VERAFLO Cleanse Choice Dressing can be used to initiate immediate wound cleansing therapy when used with V.A.C. VERAFLO Therapy. The VERAFLO dressing’s three-layer design is meant to facilitate the removal of thick exudate material. This provides a wound cleansing option for clinicians when surgical debridement is not possible or must be delayed.

The KCI V.A.C. features a white body with blue accents. The name “V.A.C. VeraFlo Therapy” is printed in black font on a white sticker placed on the machine’s blue handle. The name “vac ulta” is printed in lowercase letters in the center of the machine’s top bezel.
