Background and Identification
This product is a concrete grinder dust vacuum with a 17.2 gallon capacity. It is manufactured and sold by Alfred Kärcher SE & Co. KG, a family-owned business that sells cleaning equipment and systems. Concrete grinding is done to level out or polish a hard floor (usually concrete, granite, or marble). This can either be done with wet grinding or dry grinding. Wet grinding means that the floor is sprayed with water before the concrete grinder is used. This lowers the friction between the two, making grinding easier. However, this method requires more people and resources to do, and it is not always necessary to achieve the same results. Because of this, some materials (including concrete) can be ground dry. However, without the water to trap the dust that results from grinding, the grinder can produce a large amount of concrete dust, which is messy and contains silica, which is harmful to breathe in. To avoid this, dry concrete grinders can attach to a dust vacuum, which picks up dust as the concrete grinder produces it.
The Karcher NT 65/2 Tact² can attach to a 10 inch walk-behind grinder, and holds up to 17.2 gallons of dust in the tank. It is electrically powered, with a 33 ft cord length that allows the user to cover a large area while connected to one outlet.
Note: Karcher’s official website refers to this product with part number 1.667-286.0, but the Home Depot rental website uses the number 1.667-310.0. Karcher may have changed their naming conventions, or this may just be a mistake in the Home Depot website. Either way, both pages refer to the NT 65/2 Tact² vacuum.
