Background and Identification

KitchenAid is a kitchen appliance manufacturer that got their start with stand mixers in the 1920's. Now somewhat synonymous with the stand mixer, KitchenAid is known for their legendary longevity in the space. They expanded to dishwashers around 1950 and other home appliances like refrigerators followed.

In 1986, the company was acquired by Whirlpool, so the construction and design of your KitchenAid fridge is probably somewhat similar to that of a Whirlpool.

KitchenAid fridges sport a KitchenAid badge somewhere on the front of the fridge. The location varies by model, but you should be able to find a model number printed somewhere inside the refrigerator cabinet.
