Background
The Makita VC4710 is a wet/dry vacuum intended for use in extracting dust and non-flammable liquids. It was made for commercial use in offices, factories, stores, hotels, etc. Some of its notable features include a sound-absorbing motor chamber, lightweight motor components, and an automatic filter cleaning system. It also allows for suction regulation based on the task at hand. It was sold for between $530 and $760 and came with a 1-year warranty.
The main complaint about the vacuum was the power switch failing. Another common complaint was related to the automatic filter cleaning system. It has been discontinued and replaced by the Makita VC4210L. The VC4210L is more compact than the VC 4710 while performing better and holding almost the same amount of liquid and dust. It is heavier but with a lower center of gravity for easier maneuvering.
