DC Motor Replacement
Background
According to this video by ITS title, the BHP453 is a lightweight drill with an average torque of about 14 Nm (Newton-meters) that is designed for smaller holes and screws. Given that the drill is lightweight, the drill is best suited for small projects that does not need constant drilling or need to drill through thick elements.
The drill was released around 2008 with the lastest update to its parts breadown guide in April 2015. According to the parts breakdown guide there were wiring changes that prompted parts intended to repair the drill to use yellow lead wire if those parts were manufactured after December 2011, parts made before December 2011 did not need to use yellow lead wires.
According to this Amazon thread, The BHP product line is similar to the newer DHP453 model, the difference being is that the DHP is compatible with the newer higher capacity lithium ion batteries while the BHP is not. Any battery replacements would need to be of the older Makita lithium ion variants.
