Background and Identification

The Mediaid 300 Series is a line of pulse oximeters sold by Mediaid. The 300 Series include Mediaid models 300, 305, and 340. Pulse oximeters are non-invasive devices used to monitor a patient’s oxygen saturation. The Mediaid 300 Series pulse oximeters are portable models that are calibrated to measure the oxygen saturation of the patient’s functional hemoglobin.

The 300 and 305 models are designed for spot-checking the patient’s oxygen saturation. The 340 model is designed for continuous oxygen saturation monitoring. All 300 Series models include two LED (light-emitting diode) displays that provide constant read-outs of oxygen saturation and pulse rate. A front-panel LED indicator will indicate the user when the device’s battery level is low. When the pulse oximeters power on, they perform a functional test and initiates diagnostics tests. Each of these models is compatible with RJ12 connectors. The 305 and 340 models are powered either by an internal, rechargeable Nickel-Cadmium battery or by standard electric power. The 300 Model is powered by six AA batteries or standard electric power.

The 340 pulse oximeter model can transmit data through the data port when the series or analog cable is plugged in while it is powering on. When oxygen saturation or pulse rate moves outside a set range, the 340 model produces audible and visual alarms.
