Background and Identification
The Nellcor N-600x is a pulse oximeter made by Mallinckrodt’s Nellcor division. Pulse oximeters are non-invasive devices used to monitor a patient’s oxygen saturation. The Nellcor division focuses mainly on producing pulse oximeters and oxygen monitors.
The N-600x model has three display options, a plethysmographic waveform, large numerics, or customizable real-time trends. This oximeter monitors the patient’s pulse rate and the functional oxygen saturation of arterial hemoglobin. It is suitable for use with adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients in hospitals, intra-hospital transport, hospital-type facilities, and home environments.
The operator can select a range of adult or neonate alarm limits. The OxiMax SPD Alert feature is designed to detect patterns of desaturation that indicate repetitive airflow reduction through the patient’s upper airway and into the lungs. The N-600x model is compatible with a range of OxiMax pulse oximetry sensors.
This pulse oximeter includes the name “NELLCOR” printed in capital letters in the upper left-hand corner of the device’s front face. The model name, “OxiMax N-600x,” is printed in the upper right-hand corner of the monitor’s front face. Using the four softkeys on the front of the device, the operator can adjust the internal time clock, access trend information, choose languages, change communications protocols, and set alarm limits.
