Background and Identification

The Nikon D2Xs is a 12.4-megapixel digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) introduced by Nikon Corporation in June 2006. Nikon is a Japanese corporation that specializes in optics and imaging products. The D2Xs model was the successor of the Nikon D2X camera, which was released in September 2004.

The D2Xs camera features the same resolution, speed, and body as the D2X model. The Nikon D2Xs camera uses a Nikon F-mount lens and a DX-format CMOS sensor produced by Sony. The camera can use virtually all of Nikon’s F-Mount lenses, including many legacy lenses. The D2Xs model features a new 2.5-inch LCD with a wide 170-degree viewing angle. Nikon claims that the D2Xs model can take up to 3,800 photos on a battery. The in-camera image size reduction is selectable by the user from 2,560 to 640 pixels wide. A new $70 remote control software called the Camera Control Pro was made available in July 2006. The Camera Control Pro allows users to control the D2Xs model from a computer.

The Nikon D2Xs model includes a CompactFlash (CF) Card Type I/II and Microdrives for memory storage.

The Nikon D2Xs can be identified by the name “Nikon” printed in white font above the camera’s lens. The model name “D2Xs” is printed on the front face of the camera.
