Background and Identification

The Sony Xperia XZ3 Android smartphone was released in October 2018 by Sony Electronics. The XZ3 was released in black, silver, green, and red bodies. The XZ3 is the predecessor of the Sony Xperia 1 and the successor of the Sony Xperia XZ2.

The Xperia XZ3 is the first Xperia device with an OLED (organic light-emitting diode) display. The XZ3 and XZ2 both feature the ‘Dynamic Vibration System’ that activates vibrations in sync with the sound. The XZ3 has a larger display than the XZ2, which has a 6-inch QHD+ display.

The XZ3 includes a non-removable 3300 mAh battery with 18-Watt fast-charging capabilities, (A non-removable battery is one whose adhesive is permanent, making repair and replacement difficult). The XZ3 is available with 64 GB of internal storage and either 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM. It also features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as well as an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, barometer, compass, and color spectrum sensors. The phone is constructed with a glass front and back and an aluminum frame. It is IP68 rated, meaning that it is dust-resistant and water-resistant in 1.5 meters of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. The XZ3 does not include a 35mm headphone jack.

A TechRadar review praised the Xperia XZ3’s screen and construction but found that the phone’s fingerprint scanner placement is awkward and the camera is unexceptional.
