Background Information
Smart thermostats control a home's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning and feature Wi-Fi capabilities for home automation. While smart thermostats preform the same functions as a programable thermostat by allowing a user to control the temperature of their home throughout the day using a predetermined schedule, smart thermostats improve on this aspect and incorporate a few different features that set them apart from standard programable thermostats.
Smart thermostats feature Wi-Fi capabilities to allow for the thermostat to connect to the internet. This allows for a user to remotely control the temperature of their home from a smart phone or laptop, or setup and modify schedules. Some smart thermostats also feature various temperature and air quality sensors.
