Background

The Smiths Pneupac ParaPAC is a mechanical ventilation device that is specifically designed for use by respiratory therapists, paramedics, and trained emergency personnel who need a versatile ventilator that can be used in any situation. It is lightweight, durable, and pneumatically powered, making it ideal for use during an emergency or controlled transportation of patients, including adults, children, and infants.

One of the key features of the ParaPAC is its ease of use, which is particularly important in noisy environments where it may be difficult to hear alarms. The device is also compatible with an alarm option designed for patient transport, allowing professionals to monitor the patient's condition during transport. The ParaPAC provides precise control over breathing parameters, including separate controls for tidal volume and frequency, allowing the user to match the patient's ventilatory requirements.

Identification

The ParaPAC typically consists of a red durable plastic housing that encloses the internal components of the device. On the front of the device, there is a digital display that provides real-time information about the patient's respiratory parameters, including tidal volume, respiratory rate, and inspiratory/expiratory ratio. The model number will be on the top of the device.

The device features a unique CMV/Demand-Demand feature, a patented mode of operation, and adjustable pressure relief with an audible alarm. It also includes an air mix facility, optional PEEP facility, integrated pressure monitoring/alarm system, and is MRI compatible with up to 3 Tesla.
