Sony Digital Projector VPL-ES1 Teardown
Background and Identification
The Sony Digital Projector model VPL-ES1 is a multimedia projector produced by Sony between 2003 and 2005. Projectors take in an input signal much like a screened display, transmitting it as an image to a surface. Most projectors do this using a small transparent lens to create the image, but newer technologies use lasers to project the image directly.
The VPL-ES1 model includes a 0.62 LCD panel with a 185-Watt lamp that produces a brightness of 1500 ANSI Lumens. This model features an Auto Setup function that sets up the projector automatically at the touch of the power button. The projector has a native resolution of 800 by 600 pixels and a maximum resolution of 1024 by 768 pixels. It can produce an image up to 3.81 meters (150 inches). It has a throw distance between 6.6-feet and 14.8-feet. Sony advertises a lamp life of up to 2,000 hours. Users can purchase a replacement lamp here (model LMP-E180). The projector uses only one lamp.
The Sony Digital Projector model VPL-ES1 includes the name “Sony” printed in capital letters on the right-hand side of the projector’s front face. The model number VPL-ES1 is printed on the rear face of the projector.
