Background and Identification
The Yamaha PSR-195 is a electronic keyboard released in 1998. It has 61 keys and 100 voices including the grand piano, accordion, and cello, just to name a few. Selecting different voices will change the sound produced when you press a key. The keyboard also has 16-key polyphony, meaning you can press up to 16 keys at once and the keyboard will play all the notes together.
On the back of the case, the keyboard has a headphone jack and a port to connect a sustain pedal. The MIDI input and output ports nearby allow the keyboard to communicate with other audio devices using the MIDI standard. The keyboard receives power via a barrel connector on the back, but it can also use six D-cell batteries for the same purpose. One of the most common issues with older keyboards is that these batteries can leak and corrode the electronics inside. If you purchased this keyboard in used condition, make sure to replace any old batteries. Try to use power from a wall socket exclusively to help prolong the life of the device.
You can identify this keyboard by looking for the Yamaha logo above the central LCD display. The model number “PSR-195” is printed at the bottom left side of the top panel near the master volume dial.
