Background and Identification
This device is a 2 in 1 Chromebook with powerful processing, a 360-degree hinge for four modes of interaction, a garaged electromagnetic resonance (EMR) pen, rear and front-facing cameras, and numerous other features. The Lenovo 500e Chromebook is largely marketed towards students and teachers as providing a powerful educational tool for both instructing and learning. The 360-degree hinge allows the laptop to fold into a tablet, making for a writing surface. The included EMR pen means device users can write on the touchscreen with precision, just like how they would on paper. Another convenient feature in the Lenovo 500e Chromebook is the rear-facing camera. Most laptops only have a front-facing camera, which is adequate for video calls but doesn’t cut it when you’re trying to take a picture of a chalkboard.
Of course, for a device to be designed for the classroom, it also has to be durable. Lenovo claims the 500e Chromebook has military-grade durability. It is also drop-resistant from about the height of a school desk and has a spill-resistant keyboard.
The Lenovo 500e Chromebook is a thin, rectangular device. It is black in color and has a touchscreen display housed in an encasing that connects (via 360-degree hinge) to a base that has a keyboard and trackpad.
