    • Unscrew the white box cover in the back, 4 screws.

    • Remove the white box cover, and then careful lift the electronic board as the picture

    • Look for two line, one white and one black on the bottom. They should be connect to the electronic board through 2 connectors

    • Pull these lines out to give yourself some space to work with the motor in the next step.

    • Examine the gear.

    • In my case, I found one strange object, sticked on the gear wall. Look like it is a washer pressed with gear teethes. Good to take it out but I wonder where it came from?

    • Unscrew this, remember follow the clock wise

    • If you just want to replace worn out impeller: hold the limiter steady, unscrew (red square) with clock wise, take out the inner burr. And try to clean and replace the impeller while holding the limiter! You should ask some body to help with this step.

    • Take the Limiter out. Take care because it go with 6 balls and 6 springs! Perform this step only if you think there are some wrong with the Limiter (Big crack sound when grind )

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

Hello, I need to remove the burr grinder blades. Any suggestions? There isnt a nut at the top of the grinder burr, so, not clear how to get it out.

Alexander Polson -

Please help there is no nut how can i remove the blade?

Mohammad Khreshe -

I have the same issue with removing the lower grinder burr. The 860 doesn’t have a nut on top like other models and appears to be screwed on to the main motor shaft. Since I’m needing to replace the lower impeller I need to take it off the motor. I’ve searched high and low on the internet for any instructions, but can’t find any. I’ve tried unscrewing it, clockwise and counter-clockwise, but it just turns the motor. Really scratching my head on this one!

John Geffel -

Sorry for late reply, I hope you found the way long time a go :-) If not, please go to Step 6.

I'm stuck with the same problem. It looks like from the pictures on this site that sells replacement impellers that the whole shaft is removed with the Burr attached, not just the burr: https://www.shapeways.com/product/52W3D2...

Not sure how they did that though, it looks like there might be some flat surfaces at the bottom of the shaft that could be gripped by a wrench, perhaps it just pull out with force applied to the bottom of the burr?

David Regan -

I found this while reading step six above more carefully, it sounds like there is a nut at the bottom that unscrews from the shaft that the burr is attached to so that the whole shaft can be removed to replace the impeller. I’m guessing that you could use a marker to mark the position of the limiter instead of having someone else hold it. What a PITA.

“If you just want to replace worn out impeller: hold the limiter steady, unscrew (red square) with clock wise, take out the inner burr. And try to clean and replace the impeller while holding the limiter! You should ask some body to help with this step.”

David Regan -

Yes, you are right, go to step 6 if you want to replace inner burr.

And no, position of the limiter is not a problem. The problem is the limiter contain balls and springs, they are on top each other and easily collapse if you not hold it strong…

Once the limiter the nut back on the shaft and torqued, should I be easily capable or rotating the gears? I seems to have quite the resistance there now… :S

Thanks for the breakdown. I was able to see how to change the gear, under the grind-adjust dial and move it a couple of teeth to adjust the limit on the height of the minimum burr setting. I don’t think I’ll have to do it again, as it’s been about eight or ten years before the minimum grind setting was too coarse for a good extraction. It grinds fine on setting “3” for now.

Hi, if the programming is not working anymore it Hass to be a problem in the main board do you have any idea where I need to be looking or do you have a diagram for me it will help me a lot thank you so much

Dennis mm -

Hi did you find a solution? same issue here

Tristan Schirmann -

Hi, my grinder doesn’t change the grind size, the dial does move but I the actual grain size doesn’t change, any idea how to fix it? Thank you!

Donata -

I'm looking for the motor as it has "grinded to a halt." Where can I buy the motor assembly?

Seth Ferrin -

Very helpful. Thank you
