Well, the Powerbeats Pro have finally made their way to our teardown table. We’re excited about their potential to be more repairable than their glue-filled siblings. Is it irrational to hope that something this small from an Apple-owned company will be repairable? Probably. Do we still have that hope? You bet we do. Check out our video teardown and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more teardowns and other repair videos.

    • The Powerbeats Pro earn a 1 out of 10 on our repairability scale (10 is the easiest to repair):

    • The battery is a fairly common button-cell, and is only lightly soldered in place, meaning battery swaps are technically possible with the right tools.

    • The earbuds’ opening procedure is not totally destructive per se, but it will likely lead to at least some cosmetic damage.

    • The earbuds’ internal circuitry is all connected with fragile ribbon cables that do not detach, so a full disassembly can only be accomplished destructively.

    • The charging case is a nightmarish bucket of glue, making potential battery replacements unnecessarily difficult and destructive.

Review missed the debris screens in the ear tubes which often get damaged. How to replace possibly.

So far it is just the case for mine that seems broken - It won’t charge the buds properly. I really don’t mind cosmetic damage if I can replace the case’s battery (assuming that is the culprit). Where might I get a replacement battery? Also, if I used enough care, could I not just cut into the case closer to the battery to get at it from underneath?

I pushed my mesh in on one of my pods. Is there any fix to just bring it back?

My volume button is stuck. It will turn up and change songs. However I can not turn down the volume at all. Can I fix it somehow?

Is there a way to replace the part that wraps around the ear the soft rubbery bit got chewed off by a hungry puppy. I was hoping to see that you can in the teardown but it just handled the tech. Thanks guys love what you do!
