I like to take things apart and put them back together again. It is cheaper and more fun than buying new things, and it is especially fun when you do it in a horrible fashion. For example: when your roommate breaks his laptop hinge, you can use a disgusting amount of duct tape in a carefully-engineered fashion to hold it together for a few weeks, and then when he brings it into a professional repair shop everyone there oohs and aahs and asks, "is your roommate a mechanical engineer?" and the answer is, of course, no, but your inner mad scientist cackles about it for an hour or three.
This is my idea of a good time.
I primarily write fiction and don't have experience soldering or ungluing or any of that mess, so you won't find me here unless I'm dismantling the printer again. Or the washing machine. Or my roommate's laptop. Or some mysterious fourth thing. (There are a lot of mysterious fourth things.)
