I have lived in Spokane nearly my entire life. In the past I have lived in Deer Park, where I graduated high school, which some may have no idea exists. It’s a small, boring little city ten miles or so north of Spokane, Washington. Today, I live in Cheney while working on my degree.
I am an Electrical Engineering (EE) student at Eastern Washington University (EWU), with an emphasis in computer engineering. I am currently working on my final quarter after three years at EWU and upon graduation, I would like to work in computer programming/embedded systems. The real workings of this degree choice are the opportunities to work in software and hardware integration. Traditionally, hardware and software are two separate teams.
I am also a Senior Certified Tech at Staples, Inc. This has given me experience with working on computers and other miscellaneous electronics. Most of this is not physical hardware repair but it has still given me some insight into taking apart computers and replacing certain components, such as hard drives.
On my own, I have never been afraid to pop open a device and attempt to fix the issue myself. As a poor college student, it has usually been the most cost effective way. My latest experience includes replacing an iPhone screen. While it can be nerve racking to open a device that cost several hundred dollars sometimes the best way is to dive right in. I believe ifixit could be a great next step in furthering my knowledge in electronics.
