My name is Anh Nguyen. I am currently a full-time student attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University majoring in Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Science.

My ultimate goal is to become a commercial pilot in the aviation industry. I am currently at the end of my flight training for private pilot operations. Soon, I’ll be able to rate my private pilot license and fly on my own legally. The moment that influenced me to become a pilot was the time when I first took a trip from the U.S. to Vietnam at the age of seven. The feeling of taking off and landing on a runway gave me quite an adrenaline rush and I loved it.

I grew up in Florida, the Sunshine State. Specifically, from a rundown impoverish community where gangs and illegal drug activities occur. But that didn’t influenced me to become part of that society. I’m glad I didn’t become one of those statistics. I think what have prevented me from becoming one of those statistics is my foreign nature. As an Asian American born, I grew up with the challenge of finding a sense of belonging. Due to the rejection of society, I had trouble defining my identity. But as I grow older and wiser, I pondered deeply on where I truly belong. After years of struggling to find my identity, I one day started to remember what intrigued me as a kid. It was the very moment of the adrenaline rush while taking off of a B-747 airplane that I realized where I belong. I realized that where I belong wasn’t on the ground but rather in the sky.

On my downtime, whenever the opportunity arises, I like to repair electronic devices that are broken or inoperable in my household.

This picture was tear down of my car’s audio system in the process of wiring and installation of a sub woofer.

Learning to do these repairs were easy with the availability of resources online.

My take away from this project is to hopefully improve in technical writing skills and team management skills. I have high hopes of not just becoming a pilot but a scholarly one. By acquiring a various set of skills, I aspire to become much more.
