My name is John Burkee. I am a student at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a specialty in Robotic Systems. I chose this major because I like to design and build mechanical systems. After Graduation, I plan to become a mechanical engineer designing robotic systems to do specific tasks. I competed in First Robotics Challenge and First Tech Challenge in 2012-2013. I was the team leader both years for both competitions. In both challenges they gave us certain parameters and certain tasks that we had to design a robot to perform. In high school, I built a working hovercraft that was proficient in hovering over water and land. I have been fixing a multitude of things from cars to toys ever since I can remember. I was a mechanic with Sunsports Cycle and Watercraft for 2 years and worked on everything from boats to ATVs. In my spare time I like to design and build different projects small and big. I have been on the deans list most of college time. I am also certified in a 3D drawing program called solid works. I am very proficient in AutoCAD, General Cadd, Catia, and Matlab. I worked as a drafter for 3 years for a land surveying company. I think this project will be very fun and I look forward to creating a repair manual.
