Hello, my name is Cordell Johnson, and I’m a Technical Communication major at the University of North Texas. Currently, I’m a junior working to get a bachelor’s and master’s degree while minoring in psychology and sociology.
My passion is in writing, designing, and music. Before coming to UNT, I was awarded multiple Superior and State Level awards for my performances in the SHS Wind Ensemble and the Tacoma Youth Symphony. I was a tuba and bass trombone player for 7 years, which led to some of the limited experience I have repairing brass instruments.
Once I started taking classes at UNT, I learned how to use my creativity and love for writing and design to start a career. After graduation, I would like to become a user experience designer or researcher. Both sound like interesting opportunities to learn and stay creative.
My repair experience is minimal, but I’m happy to have the opportunity to learn and work with iFixit. Like I mentioned earlier, I have some experience helping my high school band director fix bent or warped valves and tuning slides on my instruments. He also showed me how repair shops go through the process of removing dents from the exterior of brass instruments.
Personally, I am looking forward to this project because it’ll help me learn how to properly take care of my own musical equipment and items around my house, and I’ll have a chance to enhance my skills as a technical writer.
