Introduction

My name is Preston Gibbons, I am a junior at the University of Memphis, pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. I chose this major because throughout my life, I have been exposed to construction work, and love the science of how things come together.

Aspirations

Ultimately, my dream job is to become a pilot in the U.S. Navy, and I am currently working toward accomplishing this goal by being a member of the University of Memphis Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps. Through this program, I will earn my commission in May 2022, and hopefully be assigned to complete flight school.

Skills/Past Projects

My skills are all subsets of mechanical comprehension. I am able to study a system of parts and understand how they work in unison, allowing me to excel in mechanic repairs/maintenance. My proudest accomplishment in repairing things is rebuilding the top end of a dirt bike engine solo. I tend to attempt to fix anything that may need repair, from carpentry work, vehicles, and even plumbing.

Organizations/Hobbies

I have been a member of NROTC Memphis since 2018 and will receive my commission through this program. In my free-time, I enjoy adventure type activities such as racing dirt bikes, kayaking, and hiking. Due to my favorite hobby of racing dirt bikes, this project is something that I am excited about as I am able to share some of my knowledge with the world while also prepping my dirt bike for an upcoming race!
