Hello, my name is Timothy Riggs. I am currently a junior at the University of Memphis.

My major is in Engineering Technology. I originally chose Electrical Engineering but I changed it after my first full year. It was more theoretical than I had anticipated, I prefer to work with things I can get my hands on. I have always enjoyed working with all things electrical, disassembling and reassembling computers or other electrical components.

I recently made a “blind opener” using a small stepper motor, a photosensor, an Arduino board and a breadboard. I have it attached to my blinds with the photosensor pointed outside, when light gets detected (in the morning) it will open my blinds automatically. When there is an absence of light (late afternoon) the motor will be activated and close the blinds.

Skills I have learned over the years:

  • Welding
  • Soldering
  • C++
  • Operation of any hand power tool.

Projects I have done throughout the years:

  • Built a “blind opener”
  • Repurposed a power supply into a 12v/5v power brick.

Experience with repairs:

  • Cars/Trucks/Motorcycle
    • Oil Change
    • Ball bearings
    • Struts
    • Upper/Lower control arms
    • Rear axle
    • Spark plugs
    • Fuel pump
    • Transmission
    • Radiator
    • Engine
    • Oxygen Sensor
    • Exhaust manifold
    • Clutch replacement
  • Non-vehicular repairs
    • Dishwasher replacement
    • Carpet replacement
    • Trailer frame
    • Trailer gate

Some hobbies I enjoy:

  • Playing video games
  • Building computers
  • Riding motorcycle
