I am a University of Massachusetts Dartmouth student majoring in bioengineering. I chose the major bioengineering because I love molecular biology and coming up with new healthcare innovations and solutions, which is what bioengineering is all about: innovating. I plan to go into the specific field of cancer research because cancer has affected my life and those I love significantly. I hope to help cure people who suffer from this disease when I am older. Some of my skills include: math, problem solving, people skills, and teaching/helping others. I have built a crystal AM radio before and I have also built and designed numerous circuit boards which I am proud of. I have helped people fix cars before. I won various awards in high school including prestigious scholarships and the president’s award for academic excellence. I am a member of BMES. Some of my hobbies include: working as a waitress in a restaurant, horseback riding, painting, knitting, photography, hiking, boating, and swimming. This project will benefit me because it will encourage me to think critically and it will help me with my technical communication skills which are two really important things to master for my future. Fun fact: I love dogs and I have a pitbull named Clementine.
