Hello! My name is Jasper Yangchareon and I’m a senior at California State University-Los Angeles.
Education:
I’m currently completing a bachelor’s in English at CSULA. I transferred from Pasadena City College in 2018, with AA’s in English, Social & Behavioral Studies, and Humanities. At P.C.C., I also earned an intermediate proficiency in French. In addition to these endeavors, I’ve also spent time as an Art major.
Aspirations:
I hope to begin a Master’s degree in Creative Writing this year at CSUN, with the short-term aspirations of being a narrative writer for video game companies or any career where creative writing is involved. My longer-term goals would be to write novels and travel Europe, with the dream being the marriage of these two ideas.
Projects:
My favorite project of my college career would be a personal memoir, which I wrote for a Creative Nonfiction class. The memoir presented the challenge of constructing a narrative, complete with tension and drama, from real-life events. I was also able to incorporate my personal favorite themes within literature - namely travel and reconciliation.
Repair Experience:
I have little to no experience in formally repairing things, apart from those of the “hack” variety and those which involve crude and unattractive solutions. I am looking forward to learning more formal repairs as I brainstorm for this project. I’m particularly interested in repairs regarding guitars, as I’m an avid guitar player, and conversely, automotive repairs, as I know nothing about them.
Awards:
California State University - Los Angeles Dean’s List (2020)
Hobbies:
When I’m not in school, I enjoy pursuing music as a passion and both reading and writing fictional and non-fictional texts.
