Introduction
Hi there! My name is Rohme Angelo Cabacungan. I am currently a third-year student at York University with a major in Information Technology (ITEC).
Background Info.
One of the most memorial moments in my life is when I picked up the mouse, and keyboard — essentially learning how to use the computer for the first time. It was through this that I developed a curiosity and desire to learn more about computers and technology.
Growing up, I would help out my family members with technical difficulties because they were not well-versed with technology, and this sparked inspiration in me - I wanted to use my growing knowledge of technology to help people because not everybody knows all about how to use technology.
University Experience
During the fall semester of my sophomore year, I took a course called “Effective Writing in Research in Information Technology”. This course was one of the degree requirements, but when I took this course I learned that it was more than just a “requirement” - I learned how important it was to appeal your writing or work to an audience, setting expectations (genre), and conveying information in a concise and effective way (readability). Through this course, I was able to discover iFixit, and I used this platform as a way of constructing my first iFixit guide - one of the projects highlighted in the course.
Constructing an iFixit guide for the first time was not easy as I expected. I spent a lot of time thinking about the research and thought process that I put towards the creation of my iFixit guide. Particularly, I considered making information simpler and easy to follow for the reader, take photos which should demonstrate a clear connection between the written text and visuals of the guide, and refer to comments made by the iFixit team, my colleagues, and my professor. While I spent a lot of time creating my iFixit guide, the experience was valuable and continues to resonate with me today.
Final Notes
I can continue talking more and going in depth about my experiences, but I would like to finish off here to set a solid foundation in case I do plan on adding on more information to my profile. Hopefully you had the chance to read over all of this and learned some information about me!
(At the time of editing my profile, I did not spend too much time editing because I wanted to get my ideas out and my experiences fleshed out. But whenever I have the time again to edit my profile, I will make modifications to my profile and hopefully my profile will be better in terms of readability).
Thanks for reading my profile kind stranger! Hope you have a wonderful day regardless of what timezone your in.
