Hi, my name is Zach Desrosiers! I’m a freshman at UMass Dartmouth, and I’m a computer science major with a technical degree in media communications and extensive experience in video and photography.

I chose computer science as my major because I’ve always had a dual-faceted mind, one that needs to be challenged technically and satiated creatively. The challenges of programming, designing games and software, and learning the ins and outs of software engineering seemed to be a great fit for challenging the technical side of my mind while also providing a level of creative flexibility.

I consider myself to be well-rounded and a fast learner, quickly taking up skills such as automobile, computer, phone, and watch repair, as well as having professional photography and videography experience. I’m also a capable graphic designer. I hope that with these skills I can find a career path that lets me both express myself creatively and challenge myself intellectually.

In the past, I’ve repaired multiple Apple Watches with damaged batteries, designed and created a custom electric guitar, turned and assembled pens from scratch, and have repaired, built, and tinkered with computers. I have a basic grasp on cars and car repair, and am handy with a wrench, saw, chisel, or multimeter. In addition, I have experience creating product photography and professional instructional videos on the setup and operation of proprietary machinery.

In my spare time, I like to take photography and video, play guitar, skateboard, and go on small outdoor adventures.

My experience in this project will help me build on my skills in technical communication, photography, and tinkering/repair. I’m immensely interested in learning new skills and discovering how things work and disassembling a piece of technology unfamiliar to me and learning how it works enough to effectively communicate and repair it will be immensely satisfying for me.
