Hi! I’m Laurel and I am originally from Oakland, CA and moved to San Luis Obispo in 2018 to attend Cal Poly. I graduated this June with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. I have a concentration in Human Resources and Management and a minor in Psychology. I have always loved working with and helping people and I believed HR was the perfect place for me to do this. I started at iFixit in July as a Recruiting Assistant. My ultimate goal is to work my way up in HR but then retire early to switch up my career (maybe to interior design)!
I have not been typically one to fix things but I have flipped some furniture including turning an old free tv stand from Craigslist into a nightstand and painting an old chipping desk. However, I am quick to pick up on things surrounding technology so I am excited to use iFixit’s guides to try to repair some old electronics I have.
In my free time I love to read, eat, and be out in the sun. My favorite book (that was just turned into a movie) is Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, and a close second is The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom. When I'm not reading, I'm eating. Some of my favorite restaurants in SLO are Taste, Dave's Hot Chicken, Giuseppe's, and Hoagies; but I always love a good home cooked meal. I also love to travel and spent three week this summer backpacking across Europe.
Fun Fact: I can sing the alphabet backwards.
