Introduction
My name is Nathan Arruda, and I am a Sophomore at Umass Dartmouth, majoring in Biomedical Engineering. I chose to pursue this major to continue my love of math and science! I previously graduated from a vocational school, earning a trade in biotechnology. I enjoyed working in a lab and pushing my mind to be innovative.
Aspirations
The main reason I want to become a biomedical engineer is to help the world. Especially in the hard times, we face today from the pandemic, I want to help society heal and continue in good health.
While I strive to be an engineer, I have done other work related to the field. I worked as a pharmacy technician, and over the summer I work as a summer camp teacher.
Accomplishments
I have done many things of which I'm proud. During my time at high school, I maintained my status of being on the honor-rolls list. I have participated in leadership events such as Skills USA. Last semester I lead a team in my bioengineering class, in which we focused on soft tissue bioprinting. We ended up getting the highest grade in the class and were much applauded by our professor and peers.
Repair Experience
I have some experience in repair. I've helped my friend a bit rebuild his Subaru WRX. Although I did not know much about the mechanics of cars, I increased my knowledge through this experience. I have also repaired ps4 controllers.
Accolades
I have participated in Skills USA, won first place in a career fair at my school, and received the Wilken Scholarship at my school.
