Hello, my name is Bishoy Mikhail, I am 18 years old, and am currently a sophomore majoring in electrical engineering at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. I chose this major because I genuinely enjoy electronics and like the idea of having the ability to create something that has utility based off of my merit. One day I hope to be a practicing electrical engineer, hopefully doing something in aerospace, aeronautics, or weapons.
I attended Diman Regional Vocational Technical Highschool where I entered into the electronics technology program. This program taught me a plethora of skills like how to solder, how to use a power supply, oscilloscope, and a function generator. I also learned how to use EasyCAD, MultiSim, and how to program in C-Language as well as learning components such as resistors, transistors, LEDs, logic gates, 555 timers, flip-flops, and 7-segment displays. During my time at Diman, I have had a handful of builds I was proud of such as my plug-in 120V AC to 12V DC power supply, a working digital clock, and a digital coin flip. While at Diman I was part of the National Honors Society which provided many opportunities to contribute to different charities and perform community service. My proudest achievement/award to date was graduating as the salutatorian from Diman.
Most of my technical and repair experience comes from my job at Apollo Safety as a service technician. We are a gas detection and life safety company. My job is to evaluate, troubleshoot, and repair hand-held gas detectors used by fire departments, universities, or really by anyone who needs to make sure there is no toxic gas present in their area. I have been working there for almost 2 years and it has really allowed me to hone my troubleshooting and repair skills.
Some fun facts about me are that I can list the 50 U.S. states in reverse alphabetical order, I have a 90-inch vertical, and I am the direct descendant of Michael Jackson.
