Introduction
Hi, my name is Abigail Lodge and I am a third year student at the University of California, Davis.
School
At Davis, I am majoring in Design. I chose to major in Design because for as long as I can remember, I have loved making things. My favorite thing about my major is the wide variety of classes I have been able to take in every area of design.
Aspirations
In the future, I hope to work as an illustrator or designer in the fashion industry. During my time at Davis, my most fulfilling classes have had either illustration or fashion based curriculum. I have also been making my own clothes and accessories for fun since childhood. While the fashion industry is my primary goal, I know that I will be happy in any field I get to create original work.
Projects
Throughout my studio classes, I have made many projects I am proud of, all varied in medium. One of my favorite projects was this tote bag I designed and sewed for one of my textile classes.
For this project we were given creative freedom to make a bag with sustainable materials. I chose to make it out of scrap fabrics I had leftover from other projects, and used an old pillowcase for the lining. I really enjoyed making the bag, and I liked the end product so much that now I consistently use it in my day to day life.
Repair Experience
I have minimal experience with repairing things, but I have always loved puzzles of all kinds. I enjoy following guides to build things like Legos or IKEA sets, and my family often gives me the job of setting things up if there is a guide involved. I am most excited to learn about repairs that are more electronics centered.
Hobbies
During my free time, I like drawing, finding new music, having movie nights with my friends, and reading.
