Guide Purpose: Brake Light stopper replacement

Parts Description: The part is a small plastic piece used to stop the brake from being engaged when not being pressed.

Reasons for guide: Brake light stuck on, causing the battery to drain overnight.

    • Remove the panel protecting the pedal system. It will be under the steering wheel just above the pedals.

    • Rotate the plastic latch a quarter turn clockwise.

    • The subsequent images show it locked and then unlocked

    • The plastic cover will be hanging on by a friction clip on the right side.

    • Grab the piece with both hands and pull down and out on the panel.

    • Check that you are in park with the handbrake engaged and start the car.

    • This allows for the brake pedal to be pushed easily with your hands.

    • This piece is hard to remove (when not broken) so the example is kind of off, though where you see the red circle is where the replacement piece has to go.

    • Push in the brake so you can insert the stopper, using force to push the stopper in place.

    • Make sure the brakes work and turn off properly.

    • Follow steps 1 and 2 in reverse.
