Einleitung

Wenn sich dein Amazon Echo Studio nicht mehr einschalten lässt, überprüfe zunächst, ob das Netzkabel oder die Anschlüsse defekt sind. Wenn sie in Ordnung sind, muss wahrscheinlich die Netzteilplatine ausgetauscht werden. Diese Anleitung zeigt, wie das geht.

    • Drehe das Gerät um, so dass die Unterseite oben liegt.

    • Auf der Bodenplatte befindet sich ein Gummibelag. Heble ihn am Rand mit einem Spudger hoch und ziehe ihn dann mit der Hand ab.

    • Entferne die neun 3,2 mm langen Torx T15 Schrauben.

    • Entferne die sechs 2,7 mm langen Torx T10 Schrauben.

    • Hebe die Bodenplatte vorsichtig ab, achte dabei auf die noch angeschlossenen Kabel.

    As the diagram shows, there are actually nine T15 Torx screws, not ten.

    • Entferne die Netzteilplatine.

    My echo studio blows the fuse in the plug every time I plug it in.

    I believe the culprit is a high voltage ceramic capacitor located under the foam insulation next to a large transistor and a large green resistor next to the heat sync. See images below.

    I have ordered a replacement capacitor so I'll let you know if this is in fact the problem or just a casualty of the problem.

Thank you for this guide. It was very easy operation, but I believe problem with Echo is that its impossible to get spare parts?

My Echo Studio is in short circuit state.

Taking this thing apart really is easy. Thanks for the tip on how to get started. But as Kertalaaki figured, it seems there is no chance to get replacement parts. I guess Amazon prefers to sell new devices instead of having people repair their Studio device. I have a similar problem Kertalaaki describes. Whenever I plug the device in, it causes the breaker to blow. Now having the device in hand, I can't see any obvious damage as Kertalaakis photos show, but I still would like to get me a new power supply board. If anyone has any ideas on how to get one, please share! Thanks a lot in advance!

I contacted the Amazon regarding the matter, and spare parts are not available. The solution from their side was a credit towards a new device with a discount. Spare parts are not available.

The power source is custom built just for this implementation and there is nothing similar on the market as far I have found.

I have exactly the same problem. Blows the fuse everytime I plug it in.

Bought November 2022 and broke 12 months later, the morning after the warranty ran out.

i found a shorted MOS FET (20N65) , one burned big resistor on the top side and two exploded SMD resitors on the bottom side

You don't neet 30VDC power supply as original used it need only ca. 0.3A by 30VDC from the power supply. I replease the old one supply for a new one I suggest you use/buy EPS-45S-24 from MEAN WELL 24VDC on output is just fine and work properly

Didn't know why my Echo Studio, which had been working fine for over a year, just suddenly wouldn't work at all. It sat in the garage, unplugged for over a month until I found this video today, while looking for a place to send it for repair. Disappointed that parts aren't even available, at all, I about gave up. Then when I went to check which "version" of Studio I had, I unplugged the other one to use that power cord. I'll be danged! It came on and worked fine. In fact better than the other on. That one will not "remember" the set volume the next time it's turned on; same as one of my Alexa's. So, I'm happy I don't have to spend $200 to get another one. Good work, there. Now if I can get my Sub to play the same song as the Alexa's, that's my next challenge.

same deal here, blows the mains whenever the PSU is plugged in (even w/o any load attached)
peeled off some of that silicone goo and revealed a popped THT capacitor

you can check your cap easily from the bottom side...
Have the "PRIMARY" text upright
it sits just right of the central rubber foot (touching the Drain pin of the MosFET Thomas was mentioning) and moves north to R131
sharing the copper Trace with the same MosFETs Source pin)
if you find a short there you are most likely to be having that same cap blown.

That unfortunately means you have to desolder at least one of the large caps (the inner one) to be able to carefully remove that goo
and finally replace that cap... I can't tell what value cap will be needed my first guess is "100pf 1kV"

Plugged, nothing happens except for getting hotter on top. No signs of burnings or exploded things in power supply unit witch, however, has been placed in the bottom.. Can't say i'm 100% sure because of the amount of glue/whatever on it. Think I should test the power unit first and then go ahead and tear dowm the hole thing to check the light board on top. So, how to test it? I don't know where to put power and where to put the tester/multimeter. It will not work again, I know; let's use theese 200 € to learn something. Thanks to everybody, except for amazon.

If you have problem with power supply board you can make your own, but you have to put it outside like an adapter, it needs 30v DC at 2 amps, you can make easily by connecting 2 adaters of 12v each in series, total = 24v, it worked well forme.
