Background and Identification
Acer is a consumer electronics company headquartered in Taiwan. The company originated in 1976 as an electronic parts distributor. Since 1976, Acer has expanded to sell electronics worldwide. The company today sells laptops, desktops, monitors, projectors, tablets, accessories, and more.
Acer also sold smartphones up until 2016 when the company halted smartphone manufacturing. Acer decided to focus on other consumer electronics, such as laptops and desktops, and give the smartphone market a rest. While Acer isn’t currently (as of 2020) selling or producing smartphones, the company has released numerous models in the past.
Acer smartphones are thin, rectangular devices. They include a touchscreen wrapped in an encasing. Acer smartphones come in a variety of colors, but all models have the Acer logo printed on the back of the smartphone. Most Acer phones also have the Acer logo on the front of the device, just above the screen. Some Acer smartphones have physical home buttons.
