Background and Identification
The Barreto model E1320HTRLR (also E1320HX or E1320H) is a hydraulic tiller that is designed to cut through sod and hard-packed soil with counter-rotating tines. Baretto is the maker of the world’s first all-hydraulic tiller, which is designed to break up ground without tossing the user around. The tiller’s wheel drive and tine drive work separately from each other to allow the tilling travel speed to be adjusted depending on the soil conditions.
The E1320HX tiller includes one handle to set the tine drive and another handle to adjust the wheel drive. The tiller’s tines and wheels will stop when the user lets go of the clutch lever, but the engine continues to run so that the machine does not need to be restarted after short breaks. The tiller’s freewheeling hubs allow the user to transport the machine without the engine running.
The E1320HX model includes an air-cooled, four-stroke, overhead valve Honda GX390 engine. The engine produces a net power output of 11.7-horsepower and a 19.5 foot-pound net torque. The GX390 engine has a fuel capacity of 6.1 liters (6.4 U.S. quarts) and an oil capacity of 1.1 liters (1.16 U.S. quarts). Honda recommends using unleaded 86 octane or higher fuel for this engine.
The E1320HX model hydraulic tiller has a red body (or an orange body for Home Depot rental models) and red ‘Y’ shaped handles for walking behind and steering the machine. The name “Baretto” is printed in black capital letters with a white background on the side of the machine behind the wheels. The model number “1320” is printed in black font with a white background above the tiller’s wheels. The GX390 engine is located in the front of the tiller and is surrounded by a set of steel tubes for keeping the engine in place.
