Background

GE Appliances (a subsidiary branch of mega-conglomerate GE, now owned by Chinese company Haier), has been manufacturing refrigerators, among other home appliances, since 1907. The company (GE Appliances) was nearly sold to appliance manufacturer Electrolux in 2014, but was blocked by the Department of Justice for monopoly concerns. So, in 2016, Chinese company Haier bought the appliance division, which included rights to use the GE name until 2056. GE appliances continue to operate out of Louisville, Kentucky.

Identification

You can identify your GE fridge by looking for the General Electric logo located somewhere on the front of the fridge. The badge is usually located in the top right or left corner.
