Background and Identification

The Moto G5 Plus, model number XT1687, was developed by Motorola, a subsidiary of Lenovo. Released in March 2017, it’s the fifth generation of the Moto G family. It’s the direct successor to the Moto G4 Plus with noteworthy improvements to the CPU and GPU. Interestingly, it’s screen size is smaller than the G4 Plus, coming in at 5.2 inch instead of the previous 5.5 inch and a lower screen-to-body ratio.

For this phone, Motorola decided to go with a metal back, plastic sides, and a glass front. Lock and volume buttons sit on the right side of the device, while the top holds the combo micro SD card and SIM card slot. The left side and top are bare. The bottom has a micro USB port, headphone jack, and microphone. It has an extremely fast fingerprint sensor. The sensor is more like the Moto Z and OnePlus 3, so that all you need to do is rest your finger on the sensor, rather than the iPhone where you actually have to press it to activate.
