Background and Identification
The Nexus 4 is the fourth Google Nexus Android phone, built by LG (based on LG's Optimus G model) and released on November 13, 2012. It introduced Android 4.2 ("Jelly Bean").
The Nexus 4 continues the Galaxy Nexus' design convention of no permanent on-screen buttons, and has only a power/sleep button and volume rocker. Ports include a combination micro-USB/slimPort HDMI port, and headphone jack. The Nexus 4 introduced Qi standard wireless charging, a non-removable battery (without disassembly), and a curved-edge screen for usability. The high-end appearance -- slim, glass panels and minimalist design -- was presumed to be in answer to Apple's iPhone 4 elegance. The phone is distinguished by a back panel of speckled glass creating a chatoyance effect under direct light.
This phone can be identified by the LG insignia and model number, LG-E960, on the back. In the bootloader menu, the product may be identified as occam or mako.
