Background and Identification

The Philips Satinelle Essential is a corded epilator designed to gently remove hairs as short as 0.5 mm from the root. An epilator is a device used to remove body hair by mechanically grasping several hairs at once and pulling them out of the roots. This process is similar to waxing as both methods prevent hair regrowth for several weeks.

The Satinelle Essential features two speed settings to grasp thinner and thicker hairs. Using the slower speed setting generally results in less pain. Some users also prefer to have the area professionally waxed prior to using an epilator because the pain involved in epilating is generally worse on the first epilation of an area. This model also includes a washable epilation head that can be detached and cleaned under running water. This model is not waterproof and should not be used in the bath or shower. The Satinelle Essential model includes a cleaning brush and a ‘sensitive area cap.’

The Satinelle Essential was released in various colors with several different design options for the body of the epilator. This model includes a sliding on-off switch that also controls the speed of hair removal. It includes the manufacturer’s name “Phillips” in capital letters above the name “Satinelle” near the bottom of the epilator’s body.
