i-Type Film Pack
Background and Identification
Polaroid is best known for its instant cameras, but the company also manufactures a few other consumer electronics. These other electronics sold by Polaroid include digital pocket photo printers, 4K UHD Smart TVs, 3D printers, speakers, headphones, digital cameras, and large format printers.
Polaroid instant cameras take photographs and print them out instantly, giving users the convenience of having a physical copy of their photograph just seconds after capturing it. Instant cameras achieve this through their use of self-developing film. One disadvantage of these cameras is that users only have one shot to capture their desired image.
The instant camera itself was first invented in 1923 by Samuel Shlafrock, but it wasn’t until 1948 that an easy to use, commercial instant camera was invented by Edwin Land. The instant camera consumer industry was pioneered by Polaroid.
Polaroid sells its instant cameras directly from its site. Polaroid instant cameras currently available, as of summer 2020, include Now, OneStep+, OneStep 2, 600, and SX-70 models. Polaroid digital cameras are available from Amazon, Walmart, and Target.
Polaroid cameras come in a variety of appearances depending on if they are digital, film, or instant cameras. Polaroid cameras are generally box-like in structure and all have basic camera components, including a lens, viewfinder, and standard camera controls.
