Background and Identification
The Sony DSC-HX300 is a part of Sony’s HX series of cameras. This camera has a 1/2.3 in type (7.82 mm) Exmor R® CMOS sensor with 20.4 mega pixels. It uses a ZEISS® Vario-Sonnar® T* Lens that has an optical zoom of 50x. The HX300 comes with a 2.95 in (3.0 type) (4:3) / 921,600 dots / Xtra Fine / TFT LCD screen and Hi-Speed USB (USB 2.0), Micro HDMI, Multi USB terminals. It is available with or without the built-in GPS functionality. It has the same range found on the Canon PowerShot SX50 HS and the Fujifilm FinePix SL1000, but the Sony's apertures are wider at both ends (though just marginally more so than the SL1000's), making it a bit better in low light than the Canon, at least at the wide end.
The DSC-HX300 can be identified by either looking at the product label, located on the bottom of the device; or by reading the model name printed on the top of the camera near the view finder.
