Introduction

If your Whirlpool refrigerator light (model R134A) is not working, chances are the light bulb needs to be replaced or screwed in tighter, use this guide to replace the light bulb.  If the light bulb is loose and needs to be tightened, step number 3 demonstrates how to do so.  Gently handle the light bulb, using too much pressure to screw in or out the light bulb can result in the glass breaking.

    • Put on a set of nitrile or latex gloves.

    • Move the refrigerator forward, to access the electrical plug.

    • Behind the refrigerator, unplug the cord from the electrical outlet.

    • Open the refrigerator, locate the light bulb to be replaced.

    • Unscrew the light bulb counterclockwise (to the left), to remove.

    • Caution: Using too much pressure or force can break the light bulb, resulting in broken glass.

    • Dispose of the old light bulb properly and grab a new light bulb.

    • To install a new light bulb, screw clockwise (to the right) to tighten in place.

    • Caution: Using too much pressure or force can break the light bulb, resulting in broken glass.

    • Behind the refrigerator, plug the cord back into the electrical outlet.

    • Open the refrigerator, check to make sure the light bulb turns on with no issues.

    • Move the refrigerator back into place.
