Introduction
This technique should only be used once you have positively identified the reason your tractor or motorcycle, scooter, etc is not starting, or not starting reliably. Though in my experience this repair works the vast majority of the time, there are times when it might not work due to failure of components in the CDI versus cold solder failure. If you have about an hour, patience and basic soldering skills this is an excellent option to try and resurrect a failed CDI!
