Introduction

Couldn't find a guide to fix a customer’s iPad so here it is put a lot of work into providing something you can use as a reference! Thanks, comment please!

    • iPad Pro 3rd Gen' A1895

    • Be sure to turn off the iPad by pressing and releasing the volume up button then volume down.

    • Press and hold the side button until the screen turns off.

    • Use the slider if you can.

    • Not powering it off can blow out your LCD back light just like iPhones other iPads!

    Correction; press and release volume up button, press and release volume down button then press and HOLd the power button o n the top right corner of the tablet, then slide the power off bar.

    • You can use a heat gun or another handy heating method! MUST DO!

    • Heating the entire screen will help make it easy to safely remove the screen.

    • Leave it on the heat for 15 minutes to loosen the strong adhesive.

    • Use an ifixit suction cup to pull up the screen so that you can insert a plastic pick.

    Das war hier leider der falsche Tipp! Für das abheben des Displays, ausschließlich eine Plastikkarte verwenden Mit dem Jimmy habe ich mein Display zerkratzt, außerdem bin ich etwas zu tief geraten. Zum Glück nur in einer kleinen Ecke, trotzdem schade ums Display.

    Ich musste nur den USB-C port tauschen, das Display habe ich wiederverwendet.

    I actually came here to say the exact thing as @arno . I advise to NOT use anything metal when trying to release the adhesive on these models of ipads, the LCD screen is only 3-5mm away from the edge and you will puncture it easily with ANYTHING metal. Just just plastic, I barely hit the LCD panel with my metal opening tool like in the walkthrough and now I have to get a new screen. I know it was the metal tool because I only used it to get started and switch to plastic for the majority of the removal. The panel only got damaged where I used the metal, but while i could see contact lines on the panel itself with the plastic picks they didnt hurt it.

    DONT USE METAL OPENING TOOLS ON THIS DEVICE

    • Apply tape or adhesive over broken glass!

    • Bust out the metal pry tool lifting broken causing glass to stick to tape working your way around broken side.

    • Wiggle Jiggle the screen off the adhesive using multiple plastic guitar picks.

    • Do Not Tear the Screen Off!!!

    Also, need to be super careful cutting around the top of the screen near the FaceID sensor and camera.

    • Do not rip the screen off!! Cables are very short will cause internal Damages!!!

    • On the Top of the screen the proximity sensor front camera has to be disconnected 1st.

    • Lay screen flat pull it down just enough to use a PH000 Screw drive to remove the safety bracket

    • Use Flat Ended Spoudger remove the bracken and cable from the Logic board!

    • Perfect! Now Lift the screen folding it up to the left like so!

    • Remove 5 PH000 Screws protecting Power Connection and Display Cables

    • Remove PH000 Battery Connection clip retaining screw.

    • Do not attempt to remove battery connection.

    • Move Small cable is taped around edges up so you can gain access to the side of the battery connection.

    • Slide thin plastic under battery connection. This will lift the battery connection pins away from the battery cable connectors and isolate the battery.

    • After Isolating battery.

    • Remove all 3 ribbon cables from logic board with flat headed spudger!

    Be extra careful when sliding the pick under to disconnect the battery. I haven’t had problems doing this until this iPad, but damaged the battery connector.

    A better Description of this disconnection of battery should be slide in to break the connection of the batterie. As it looks like this pops off just like the ribbons. Be extra carful

    • Just a touch of heat don't melt the thing off remove the face ID sensor from Old Screen.

    • Damaging Proximity sensor could effect True Tone with 3rd Party Parts

    • Gently use a tool to get under glued down connection on glass frame of screen!

    Removing sensor flex is not the worst part...finding the right glue/adhesive to install onto the new screen is, you need to make sure it stays put and not wiggle around

    • Remove Bracket off old screen you and move it to new screen

    • Transfer Cables and Bracket to new screen

    • Place Screen without adhesive test your screen and face ID

    • After running test take

    After replacing the screen, was True Tone still present? I know with iPhones, replacing the screen made the feature go away unless a programmer was used. Was wondering if iPad Pros were the same.

    • Clean Edges with flat ended metal tool to remove broken glass

    • Clean desk of glass on table get ready to remove Proximity sensor from old screen!

    • Do not clamp recommend to use flat and heavy object

    • Broken glass on the frame will crack your new screen

Conclusion

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

Most likely you may have damaged the flex of proximity sensor.

Check connector

Check placement with flash light make sure everything is aligned correctly

I do not think there is a way without OEM Screen or serial transferring such as with iPhone X MAX screen repairs you would use

Yes it is just like phones only on the iPad Air 2&3 and the Pro Series

The guide doesn't show the part regarding the face ID. And it's the most sensitive one. Good guide despite that though.
